The glamour and style of AW14 New York Fashion Week whizzed by in a flash of fabulousness as usual. The beautiful creations of the world’s leading fashion designers graced the catwalks over the eight days, but it was the trends on the street during the shows that caught our eyes.
Jeans were everywhere on the streets of The Big Apple, with distressed boyfriend and cropped styles the leaders of the pack. Model Karolina Kurkova perfected this trend, earning herself the title of 'best dressed street style' by the Donna Ida girls. Sitting front row at Rag and Bone'sFall/Winter 14 show she teamed her distressed rolled up boyfriend jeans with pointed monochrome print court heels and a pink structured blazer creating a casual yet chic look. Get the look with the J Brand RTW Aiah Leather Jacket in Hibiscus for that perfect pop of colour.
To nail this trend yourself, make sure your jeans look like you've had them for years, and you've just thrown on a fabulous pair of heels for effortless chic. The boyfriend jean screams high fashion when dressed up in heels or can easily be dressed down with your trusty pair of converse for a relaxed, comfortable look. Distressed jeans were seen all over the streets in the USA's fashion capital nodding to the rock chick trend that will be forever cool. A plus side to this style is that your jeans will never look too old either, the more worn in the jean looks, the better, proving to be a true investment buy.
If the boyfriend jean is a little too relaxed for you, instead, create the same desired trend in a pair of cropped skinny or straight leg jeans. This would create a sleeker and sexier silhouette, hugging you in all the right places. Choose a vintage wash with shading for an easier take on the worn in, distressed look which will look great in the Summer months.
