We go behind the scenes with Donna Ida Operations Manager, Peta Gray, to get the top tips on her career, her everyday essentials and all things Donna Ida.
Name: Peta Gray
Job Role: Operations Manager
What does your current job involve?
My role is really varied, I look after the sales side of our website as well as helping our Online Content Editor with stock uploads, I also oversee all stock as it comes into our Head Office and then allocate to our stores. I’m also your point of call for any online queries, you have a question chances are it’s me who’ll you’ll be talking to! I also oversee our online boutique on Farfetch.com, sourcing samples for them to shoot and then monitoring the sales side. I’m the go-to girl of Donna Ida, you need something, anything… come to me!
What are your biggest achievements?
I guess it would be moving to London…twice! I first came when I was 22, and then came back when I was 27 and have been here ever since.
When/what was your big break?
I’ve been in retail in some form or another for 10 years, I’ve been a store manager, footwear buyer and now operations manager and I look forward to what the future holds for me.
What is the best part of the job?
The best part would be helping someone who has trouble buying jeans into the best jeans they will ever buy, often online is hard when giving advice as you can’t see the customer, so if they purchase and love your recommendations that’s a great feeling.
What are your everyday essentials?
As most of the Donna Ida girls know I’m a basic jeans and tee girl, everyone should own a pair of James Jeans Twiggy’s, they come in numerous washes and are amazing, and I’m a huge fan of Goldsign too. I own about 100 t-shirts so I’m always in either a Fresh Laundry Pocket Tee or a Zoe’s Tee top, easy.
What is your best industry advice?
Work hard, dedication will pay off in the long run.
