Stylist and founder of the Gift Library Caroline Stanbury shares her essential style must-haves for Valentine's Day in The Modern Edit.

Tell us about your style?
When I dress up my style is glamorous, sophisticated but also playful – I don’t like to take fashion too seriously. No matter what you’re wearing you have to feel comfortable in it – confidence is key when dressing up. For day to day dressing I embrace the high end sports look - I love trainers, t-shirts, leather jackets, and combining different fabrics. It’s very important that I’m comfortable when I’ve got 3 children to run after!
Do you have any style icons?
My favourite designers right now are Isabel Marant and Yves Saint Laurent – I love their laid back yet luxurious appeal.
What are your current wardrobe essentials?
With the cold London weather lately it’s rare you’ll find me out of my Jimmy Choo biker boots and Roberto Cavalli leggings. For work appointments and meetings where a more polished outfit is required, my staple look would be my Balenciaga leather skinnies paired with Isabel Marant boots. I also can’t get enough of Gift Library's new heavy metal Claw Spike and Crystal necklace by Mawi, which adds a perfect tough luxe finish to any look.
What is it about London fashion you are drawn to?
I love how diverse London is. It embraces such a myriad of different styles and trends, leaving one so much freedom to experiment and express yourself through your fashion choices. With London Fashion Week fast approaching I can’t wait to see what Osman and Meadham Kirchhoff have to offer - I love watching up-and-coming designers showcase their new collections.

What’s your best industry advice?
Have an idea, believe in it and stick to it – if you have a vision that you feel confident in, use your passion and determination to make it happen. I’m so proud of where we are today at Gift library, and if I hadn’t had the determination and support around me it wouldn’t have turned into the success it is today.
